2019 Summer Camp

Week 1: Jul 2-5

Camp Theme: Skilled Craftskids

The theme of this week’s camp is “Little Skilled Craftsman”. Through learning and applying the mechanical tools, the children fully experience the joy of being creative by using hands and thinking. In the camp, students will explore the principle, design and build creatively experience the changes brought by mechanical manufacturing to our lives. The crafting projects will cultivate children’s hands-on capabilities and enhance their teamwork awareness. Through the combination of project learning and art processing, camp allows students to transform the works of art on paper into real craft arts with different materials and tools.

Projects: Christmas Trees, Captain America's Shield, Big Lucky Wheel, Baymax & Minion, Car House……

Week 2: Jul 8-12

Camp Theme: Robot Learning & Contest

The campers will improve the integrated robotics knowledge such as mechatronics concepts, programming knowledge, and mechanical structure knowledge, as well as logical thinking ability, spatial imagination ability, teamwork, and leadership ability through immersive training. Our curriculum is designed to enable students to integrate the fun activities with robotics skill development through the form of a battalion team, so that students can quickly improve their comprehensive ability and competitive level in the short term. The competition is one of the best ways to enhance students’ capability of working under pressure.

Projects: Dancing Robot, Light-sensitive Robot, Rescue Robot, Soccer Robot, Carrying Robot, Fighting Robot……

Week 3: Jul 15-19

Camp Theme: The Extraordinary Innovators

We’ll examine the world children interact with through fun and hands-on experiments, discovering the scientific and technological principles behind it all! This camp will let students discover the power of simple machines, allowing them to do super things! How can we lift large objects or go faster? Topics covered are mechanical advantage, transfer of energy and math in motion. Our young scientist and engineer will be wowed by amazing activities and quality projects this week, exploring topics ranging from mechanics to electronics, taste buds to sound, lightening to rainbows, and so much more!

Projects: Watts-Up, Lights…Colour…Action, Lantern Design and Building, Binary Logic, Knight Rider, Memory game, Sonic Sound, Line Following Car, Model Airplane, Gear up!......

Week 4: Jul 22-26

Camp Theme: Scratch Creative Programming / Color Coding

This week, we will creative programming on Scratch. Art and technology are the absolute opposite for most people because technology is driven primarily by data whereas art is driven by emotion. Technology is known for the application of scientific knowledge, and art is often thought to be known for its subjective expression. However, creative programming combines the two closely and becomes a vane of design and art development in this era. In this age of the Internet, every child should embrace new technologies. We only need to understand how we think, and describe this process of thinking in a programming language. Computer then will help materialize our imaginations through their algorithms. This is the power of creative programming.

Projects: Introduce creative thinking—SCAMPER analysis method, use MECE analysis method to carry on the tightrope challenge, use thinking maps to set up home plant doctors, and use intelligent hardware for the comprehensive applications...

Week 5: Jul 29-Aug 2

Camp Theme: 3D Creative Modeling & Printing

This week’s theme is 3D printing, which is used in both rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing. Based on a digital model file, 3D printer uses a powdery metal or plastic binder material to build an object by layer-by-layer stacking technique (namely, “stack build method”). In the past, it was often used to manufacture models in the fields of mold making, industrial design, and the like. It’s now gradually being used for the direct manufacturing of some products. In particular, some high-value applications (such as hips or teeth, or some aircraft parts) already have components printed using 3D printing technologies. Through studying the basics of 3D printing, learning personalized design, and exploring experimental lab to accomplish the projects, children will gradually experience the magical feelings brought by high-tech technologies.

Week 6: Aug 6-9

Camp Theme: The Creative Artists

Get ready for a fun and creative week! Children this week will unleash their inner artists by taking on creative, artistic projects! During this week, campers will make their own tie-dyed T-shirts, nature collages, aquarium or 3D jungle, clay parties and more.

Projects: CD fish; popsicle stick castles; Egg carton whale; Butterfly and colorful tissue paper craft; Pipe cleaner monsters; Stained glass windows……

Week 7: Aug 12-16

Camp Theme: Robot Learning & Contest

Camp Theme: Developing Civilization

The theme of this week’s camp is about developing civilization. Through teaching the technologies in different eras, the camp leads students to gradually learn about electronics and circuits knowledge, fully engage with everyday appliances by exploring its’ principles. Students in the camp will experience the daily life changes brought by the development of science and technology, obtain hands-on skills, cultivate teamwork spirit, and develop creative thinking mindset. Campers will learn through games and explorations which enable students to learn in happiness and grow in collaboration.

Projects: Voice-activated Light, Supermarket Anti-theft System, Bus Credit Card Machine, Voting Machine for Four People, and Remote Control Car……

Week 9: Aug 26-30

Camp Theme: Space Exploration and Robotics

SPACE! ROCKETS! SCIENCE! Kids this week will explore the what's out of this world and how they might get there. By using current technologies, scientists and engineers have created many mighty machines and crazy robots that has traveled beyond our planet and survived the harsh environment. What does it take to be an astronaut? Why space is doing tough? It's the future technologies that will empower these kids to learn how to blast off into the future of space exploration! Campers will get to build, test and have fun with their projects trying to push the space frontier.

Projects: Habitat Home, Bottle Rockets, Solar System Snow Globe, Stretchy Universe Slime, Space Rocks, Exploration Rover, Into Orbit Mission Set……
